Privacy Policy — at TowCapacityCalc, accessible from our website, one of our main priorities is the privacy of our visitors. This Privacy Policy document contains types of information that is collected and recorded by TowCapacityCalc and how we use it.

1. Information We Do Not Collect (Client-Side Integrity)

TowCapacityCalc is engineered as a privacy-first web utility. We do not store the weight specifications or mechanical inputs you enter into our towing calculators (such as truck GVWR, trailer weights, cargo specs, or hitch calculations): the calculations run in your browser and nothing you type is saved on our servers. The only exception is the rounded summary figures sent to Google Analytics, described in section 4.

2. Google AdSense & DoubleClick DART Cookies

We use Google AdSense to display advertising on TowCapacityCalc. Google is a third-party advertising vendor and may use cookies or similar technologies, including DoubleClick DART cookies, to serve ads based on visits to our website and other sites on the internet.

Where required by GDPR or US state privacy laws, Google's Privacy & Messaging tools provide the advertising consent, privacy message, and opt-out controls for Google AdSense. Our site's separate analytics banner does not control Google AdSense advertising cookies.

3. Our Advertising Partners

Some of the advertisers on our site may use cookies and web beacons. Our advertising partners include:

These third-party ad servers or ad networks use technologies like cookies, JavaScript, or Web Beacons that are used in their respective advertisements and links that appear on TowCapacityCalc, which are sent directly to users' browsers. They automatically receive your IP address when this occurs. These technologies are used to measure the effectiveness of their advertising campaigns and/or to personalize the advertising content that you see on websites that you visit.

Note that TowCapacityCalc has no access to or control over these cookies that are used by third-party advertisers.

4. Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages and calculators are used. The Google Analytics tag loads on every page, and Google Consent Mode v2 decides whether it may store anything on your device:

  • In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, analytics cookies are off by default. Until you choose “Allow analytics” in the banner, Google Analytics sets no cookies and sends only cookieless pings (no client identifier), which Google uses for aggregate, modelled counts. Choosing “No thanks” keeps it that way.
  • Everywhere else, Google Analytics sets its first-party cookies (_ga and _ga_*) by default. You can turn them off at any time with the switch below, after which it falls back to cookieless pings.
  • Advertising signals are off for Google Analytics everywhere: we do not use it for ad personalisation, remarketing or Google Signals.

Besides page views, we record which calculators and links are used, the calculator's verdict with rounded summary figures (for example trailer weight and remaining payload, in pounds), the truck preset you picked, towing-report downloads, and the fact that a contact form was sent. We never send names, email addresses, VINs or anything you type into a message. Your choice is stored in your browser's local storage under cookie-consent, not in a cookie, and applies only to that browser.

We also use Ahrefs Web Analytics to understand aggregate page traffic, referrers, and technical performance. Ahrefs Web Analytics loads by default. Ahrefs describes this product as cookie-free, not based on persistent identifiers, and not collecting or storing personal or identifiable data by default.

Our banner and the switch above control Google Analytics only. They are separate from Google's Privacy & Messaging controls for Google AdSense advertising choices, and it does not control Ahrefs Web Analytics.

5. GDPR & CCPA Privacy Rights (Do Not Sell My Info)

Under California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), users are entitled to standard rights:

Right to Know:
Request disclosure of what personal data we have collected (we collect none).
Right to Erasure:
Request deletion of any personal data.
Right to Opt-Out of Sale:
Request that a business that sells a consumer's personal data, not sell that data. TowCapacityCalc does not sell, lease, or distribute consumer data to any party. Turning analytics cookies off (banner or the switch in section 4) stops Google Analytics from storing anything on your device, and Google privacy messages provide AdSense advertising choices where required.

6. Third Party Privacy Policies

TowCapacityCalc's Privacy Policy does not apply to other advertisers or websites. Thus, we are advising you to consult the respective Privacy Policies of these third-party ad servers for more detailed information. It may include their practices and instructions about how to opt-out of certain options.
